For a labia reduction the surgeon uses a zigzag incision. He then removes the excess mucus membrane and sutures the wound with small stitches which dissolve by themselves. Working with a zigzag method improves the chances of smooth healing without contraction of the scar. This procedure is usually performed under local anaesthetic. In this case the surgeon only anaesthetises the labia minora – which can be slightly painful. Are you very sensitive? Opt then for a general anaesthetic.
